Return to School March 2021 - A Letter from the Principal

27th February 2021

Dear Parents/Guardians,

We look to forward to welcoming pupils from Junior Infants to 2nd Class back to the school building on Monday. Our Language Class returned on the 22nd February. It is expected at present that pupils in all other classes will return on March 15th. Thank you to pupils, staff and yourselves for supporting remote learning in recent months. This will continue a little longer for some.

We ask your cooperation on a number of matters to ensure a safe return to school for all:

  • The Parental Declaration form must be filled out for every pupil before they return to school – one for each child. The online link is available here. It is also attached to this email.

  • The Board of Management has asked that adults wear masks when in the school grounds and that congregating / mixing by all persons be avoided.

  • Social distancing must be adhered to i.e. staying 2 meters apart from others. It is important you encourage your child(ren) to social distance too.

  • If your child, or anyone else in your household, is displaying symptoms of Covid-19 he/she must remain at home pending advice from your GP. Please follow GP and HSE advice on restricting movements / self-isolation at all times including in circumstances where family members are identified as close contacts of a confirmed case.

  • If you or your child has travelled abroad please read the latest travel guidance here.

  • It is vital that you / emergency contact person can come to the school directly should your child become unwell and need to be brought home. Updated contact details for parents/guardians and emergency contacts should always be provided to the school.

  • Please revise Covid-19 safety rules/actions with your child(ren) before they return to school (hand washing, cough and sneeze etiquette, social distancing)

  • Communication with the school should be by phone (094 9023438) or by email / No persons other than staff and pupils are permitted in the school building except when there are exceptional circumstances and by prior agreement.

  • The school’s updated Covid-19 Response Plan is available on the school website

  • The Department of Education has provided wellbeing resources for families of children attending primary school - see here

  • Covid-19 resources in many languages can be found here.

We really appreciate your cooperation in relation to these measures and we look forward to working with you to ensure a successful, safe return to school.

Yours sincerely,

Joe Carty
